Why I Named My Blog In the Middle of It All

Welcome to my site!

By Debby Marindin

When I decided to start this blog, one of the hardest parts wasn’t choosing the platform or outlining my first topics. It was naming it.

What could possibly capture the breadth of what I wanted to write about—business, technology, communication, leadership, teams, change—without boxing me into one lane?

Then it hit me: I’ve always been in the middle of it all. It is not just professionally. Personally, too.

I’m a Middle Child. And a Gen Xer.

Growing up, I was the middle child—not the oldest, not the baby, but the one often bridging gaps, mediating conflicts, reading the room, and navigating multiple perspectives. It shaped how I listen, how I lead, and how I see the world: not in absolutes, but in layers.

I’m also part of Generation X—the cohort that came of age between analog and digital, before and after the internet, before and after work became “always on.” We straddle worlds, quietly adapting, translating between Boomers and Millennials, mainframes and iPhones, hierarchy and agility.

So when I thought about naming this blog, the answer was right there:

The middle isn’t a place of indecision. It’s a place of insight.

The Middle Is Where Things Connect

Whether I’m writing about remote teams, AI in business, communication breakdowns, or the evolution of learning, I’m interested in the space between:

  • Between tradition and innovation

  • Between top-down structure and grassroots creativity

  • Between data and intuition

  • Between what’s known—and what’s possible

The middle is not a compromise. It’s a powerful vantage point. It’s where disciplines blend, tensions surface, and new thinking emerges.

What This Blog Will Explore

In the Middle of It All is a place for people who want to go deeper—who want to understand not just what’s happening in business and tech, but why, and what it means for real people and real organizations.

Here, I’ll share insights on:

  • Leading remote and hybrid teams with clarity and care

  • Choosing tools that work with people, not against them

  • Creating organizational structures that encourage creativity, not conformity

  • Navigating digital transformation without losing human connection

  • Embracing diversity, inclusion, and complexity as strengths—not challenges

Why the Middle Matters Right Now

We live in a world of extremes. Headlines shout. Algorithms polarize. Business decisions demand speed, and nuance is often lost in the noise.

But the truth is: lasting solutions rarely come from the edges. They emerge from the middle—from leaders, thinkers, and teams who are willing to sit in complexity, balance competing needs, and find new pathways forward.

Let’s Meet in the Middle

If you're someone who doesn’t fit neatly in a box—who thinks critically, feels deeply, and leads thoughtfully—then you're already in the middle of it all too. This blog is for you!

Because we don’t have to pick a side.

We can build something better right here, in the middle—where the real work gets done.
